HI Friends,
I hope this blog finds you well during this trying time! I often wonder if I should make art that is more socially conscious but then I am so drawn to nature and beauty I find that it is my therapy so I hope you can enjoy it on that level. FLAMINGO LOVE is my latest small painting available for purchase. I wanted to have more done but teaching art to children, and other obligations happen! I fell in love with a local photographer's photo of a Flamingo in South Florida and asked her permission to paint it! Email newsletter subscribers receive a 25 percent discount on paintings. ![]() During Covid-19 and even before, I have been mindfully trying to come up with smaller paintings that might be more affordable to more people. Flowers, I have found are always classic, mood enhancers, and really fun to paint! The first photo above is of my newest 12 x 12 canvas paintings titled VINTAGE FLORAL. These colors are soothing and refresh a space! This second 12 x 12 is the only one painted on cradled wood and is titled FOREVER FRESH and was inspired by a friend's photos of her flowers. ![]() And this little darling is titled FLOWER POWER and is acrylic on canvas with painted gallery wrapped edges. So, if you are receiving my 1-2 email newsletters a month take 25 dollars off of of one of these floral paintings through Dec 10th. This has been such a hard time for so many and for a lot of us artists, a time to go in the studio and find inspiration. In my canvas paintings I have noticed that I have resorted to painting the beauty of nature again and again as art is my therapy. So, please check out my work on my website pages and message me if there is a particular painting you are interested in. CLICK THE BLACK BOX BELOW TO VIEW MORE ART. Commissions welcome ( discount only for existing paintings) Then simply email me for which painting you are interested in and I will send you price and discount (except paintings marked reserved for exhibition). You can pay through PayPal, Apple Pay, check, cash, and Zelle. Full or payment plans accepted. If you want shipping payment must be made in full first. Thanks for stopping by! ![]() Watercolors can be fickle, hard to control, easy to ruin and quick to overwork! They can be so frustrating! As an acrylic painter I am very used to the forgiveness of acrylic (and oils) on canvas! With watercolors, I used to get very frustrated with until I discovered Intuitive Painting while I was an Art Therapy Grad Student. Intuitive Painting is the process of letting the flow of paint through mark making lead the process to see what turns up in one's work. With Intuitive Watercolor painting, one can explore wet paint on wet paper and watch the properties of the paint mix to understand how lovely the medium can be. When we free ourselves from the finished product (like in art therapy) we can simply play with the materials and learn from them. INTUITIVE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP coming up in September 19TH at 1-2:30 pm. We will explore the properties and possibilities of watercolors. Learn about making shapes and lines with brushes with wet on wet technique and dry brush techniques. We also go over a little color theory, composition, and other techniques. We will do a series of watercolor exercises and not a finished product. This is a free Zoom live workshop (sponsored by The ACA Atlantic Center for the Arts) limited to 12 participants.
